This is my Halloween spread. There’s a lot going on so I hope you can keep up!
Exhibit A: Chocolate cake skull head and chocolate chip femur bone cookies. These were both very easy to make thanks to baking molds.
Exhibit B: Cookie bars. Again, very easy. Take chocolate chip batter, spread it in a cake pan, and let it bake until golden brown. Once they’ve cooled, cut them up, stack them on a plate, and drizzle them with red sugar sauce (confectioners sugar, water, and red food coloring).
Exhibit C: Life like organs! I picked up these up at the Dollar Tree of all places and used my existing jars to place them in. I filled them a little past halfway with water and a few dabs of red food coloring. There you have it, a creepy way to display body parts for $2. Can’t beat it!
Exhibit D: Framed medical pictures. I tracked down these picture frames at the thrift store for fifty cents each. Yes, they were gold and tattered, but nothing a little flat black spray paint couldn’t fix. The pictures themselves are images I found on an “antique anatomy” Google search and printed them out. I love the way they tie everything together.
Exhibit E: To top it off I added a tattered mesh cloth underneath everything (also found at the Dollar Tree) and added rats here and there. The “bat of a heart” was probably the most expensive thing in this picture. It was $8 from Target bit I’m a sucker for things that light up!

This is the second year I have used this cake mold but it’s so easy and makes such a good impact I had to use it again. I did add femur bone chocolate chip cookies to the platter (also bakes with a mold).

I couldn’t leave out Dracula.

Frankenstein Cupcakes

Every year I throw a Halloween bash. This year I incorporated tons of horror film food and decor. I came up with so many ideas but Frankenstein cupcakes were the first thing I thought of. Made with vegan chocolate cake, vanilla frosting, and topped with Frank himself. I made the toppers by printing out multiple images onto cardstock paper. I then cut each one out carefully and taped a toothpick to the back. Piece of cake!

These are my Halloween invitations this year!
This is what I used:
- Cardboard popcorn boxes I ordered from Amazon
- Real popcorn
- Yellow food coloring for the popcorn (it turns out bright red!)
- Red food coloring to smear all over the inside and outside of the popcorn box.
- Old horror movie poster images I found on the internet.
- “Admit One” tickets I printed from an image I found on the internet.
All in all these inviations were a piece of cake. And cheap! It only cost me about $20 for 50 invitations. My friends love them!

My friend Jonti is getting married so me and a couple friends threw her a 1950s themed bridal shower. We listened to a little Chuck Berry, drank gin and tonic, and ate some of the cuttest finger foods. Here is what we had on the menu:

- Mini vegan pigs n a blanket (yum!)

- Vegan tempeh lettuce and tomato sandwiches

-Vegan dill cucumber on melba toast

- Deviled eggs

- Vegan spinach dip in a bread bowl (I didn’t get a pic!)

- Vegan rice crispy treats

- Cream puffs

- Ambrosia Salad (Julia’s favorite!)

- Vegan chocolate cookie sandwiches

- A plate of twinkies and hostess cupcakes (we didn’t make these but it was a 1950’s must)

-Gin and Tonic

-Shirley Temples

I had enough sparklers to burn the house down. It was the grand finale of my Marie Antoinette party. Well, maybe it was the dance party right after this. You don’t need those pictures ;)

mindiecakesDid you know you can throw a party for just about anything? Well, atleast I can. I enjoy setting up for a party almost as much as the party itself. Food plays a major role and most everything you'll see is vegan. I want to share my ideas from past events and there will absolutley be more to come.
